Musa Super Black – a banana plant that brings a truly tropical atmosphere to any interior. It is one of the most striking ornamental banana varieties in the world. It stands out with its nearly black trunk and remarkably dark foliage. Young leaves often start with a burgundy hue but eventually turn a deep purple. When grown indoors, this variety grows quite fast and typically reaches up to 2 meters in height. It develops a dense crown and a thick, sturdy pseudostem.
You can also grow it seasonally in your garden or on a terrace. During the summer, this Musa Super Black banana plant handles outdoor conditions perfectly and serves as a unique decoration for your outdoor space. However, remember to bring it indoors before the first frost arrives. This species loves bright spots and regular watering. It also requires high humidity, so it is worth misting its leaves frequently. By choosing this specimen, you are investing in a rare collector’s gem. When properly cared for, this banana tree will reward you with healthy growth, provided you give it enough warmth and sunlight.

Musa ‘Super Black’ grows best in a very bright place, but with diffused light, which allows it to maintain the intensely dark color of the leaves. During the summer season it can stand outside, provided it is sheltered from strong winds, which easily damage the large leaves.
The best time for planting or transplanting is late spring, when temperatures are already stably high. The plant then quickly enters the stage of intensive growth and adapts well to the new substrate.
This variety prefers fertile, permeable soil that is constantly slightly moist, but without the risk of water stagnation. A mixture of all-purpose soil with the addition of perlite, compost or coconut fiber to improve structure and aeration works well.
Musa ‘Super Black’ does not tolerate low temperatures, so for the winter it must be moved to a bright room with a temperature of about 12-15°C. During the dormant period, watering is kept to a minimum to prevent root rot and keep the plant in good shape until spring.
