Cortaderia selloana ‘Pink Feather’ grows best in full sun, where it is provided with plenty of light throughout the day. It is advisable to choose a place sheltered from strong winds, which can break its tall, decorative panicles.
The best time for planting is in spring, from April to June, when the soil is already warmed up and the risk of frost has passed. Planting during this period allows the plant to root well before the onset of winter.
The plant prefers light, permeable soil that does not retain excess moisture. A substrate with a neutral pH, i.e. in the range of 6.5-7.5, well enriched with compost, works best.
Before winter, tie the leaves into a vertical bunch, which protects the center of the clump from moisture. The entire plant is worth covering with agro-textile, straw or reed, especially in colder areas, to protect it from frost and rot.
